CAC GRAMMAR SCHOOL AKURE TAKES LEAD IN E- LEARNING IN ONDO

The drive to modernise education through technology received a major boost in Ondo State as CAC Grammar School, Akure, commissioned a new e-learning centre designed to improve teaching and learning. The project, executed in partnership with Computer Literacy Initiative (CLI), publishers of the Learn with Ease series, features two fully equipped classrooms fitted with audiovisual learning facilities and specially developed instructional materials to complement classroom teaching. Commissioning the facility on Wednesday, the Director of Schools, Ondo State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Mrs. Gladys Ilori, represented by Mrs. Olufolake Mapayi, commended the management of CAC Grammar School and Computer Literacy Initiative for investing in technology-driven education. She described the initiative as a significant step toward improving the quality of education in the state, noting that e-learning has become an essential component of modern education across the world. Ilori urged the students, who are the primary beneficiaries of the project, to maximise the opportunity by making proper use of the facility, while also charging both staff and students to protect and maintain the centre for future generations. Also speaking, the Zonal Education Officer, Mr. Adekunle Henry, represented by Dr. Sola Akinmoladun, praised the school for embracing Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to improve teaching standards. He encouraged the school to expand the initiative by adopting electronic examination systems to enhance examination integrity and better prepare students for external examinations. In his welcome address, the Principal of CAC Grammar School, Dr. Toyin Olobayo, described the e-learning centre as a reflection of the school's commitment to providing quality education through innovation. According to him, the facility will provide students with access to modern learning resources beyond the traditional classroom environment, enabling them to acquire the digital skills required in today's rapidly evolving world. The Director of Computer Literacy Initiative, Mr. Ade Akande, explained that the programme was conceived to simplify the teaching and learning of subjects often considered difficult, including Mathematics, English Language, Physics and Chemistry. He noted that the audiovisual instructional materials were developed to improve students' understanding, retention and overall academic performance. Akande added that while other schools had introduced the initiative for English and Mathematics, CAC Grammar School is the first in Akure to extend it to Physics and Chemistry, thereby broadening students' access to technology-assisted learning. Chairman of the school's Parents-Teachers Association (PTA), Chief Yusuf Adebayo, commended the management for the initiative, describing the e-learning centre as a valuable investment in the academic future of the students. Stakeholders at the event expressed optimism that the adoption of digital learning tools would enhance classroom instruction, improve students' performance and prepare them for the demands of a technology-driven world.
