Adeleke Wins Osun State Governorship election in Landslide Victory

INEC announced Adeleke’s victory early Sunday at the state collation centre in Osogbo after results from all 30 local government areas were collated. The governor, who contested under the platform of the Accord Party, polled 511,067 votes to defeat his closest challenger, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, who secured 444,815 votes. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Najeem Salaam, came third with 17,180 votes. Adeleke won in 19 local government areas, while Oyebamiji secured victory in 11, giving the incumbent governor a winning margin of 66,252 votes. Davido had been actively involved in his uncle’s campaign, using his large social media following to mobilise support, share campaign materials and encourage residents to participate in the election. Following the declaration, the singer took to his social media pages to celebrate the victory and thank the people of Osun State for supporting his uncle. The victory also secures a second term for Adeleke, who first assumed office as governor in 2022. Meanwhile, celebrations erupted around the INEC collation centre in Osogbo shortly after the results were announced. Supporters of the governor gathered around the premises, waving Accord Party flags, dancing and chanting solidarity songs in celebration of the result. The crowd repeatedly broke into cheers of “Adeleke” as the atmosphere around the collation centre turned festive.
