Ondo State Government Assured Citizens of Safety Against any Security Threats
The Ondo State Government has reassured residents of their safety following the circulation of a leaked security memo warning of a possible terrorist attack in parts of the state.
The memo, reportedly issued by the State Security Service (SSS) to the 32 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Akure, had surfaced in the media, sparking public concern.
In a statement issued on wednesday.ans made available to journalists,the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Idowu Ajanaku, said the government is fully aware of the memo and has been working closely with security agencies to forestall any potential threat.
Ajanaku explained that the leaked memo was part of routine intelligence sharing between security agencies and the government, aimed at identifying and preventing possible security breaches.
“Such reports are a normal part of security operations, containing varying levels of threat assessment used in joint operations to enhance vigilance and proactive response,” he stated.
He assured residents that the intelligence report was being acted upon by the government and relevant security bodies, adding that necessary precautions have been taken to ensure the safety of all citizens.
“The emphasis remains on maintaining vigilance and cooperation among security agencies and the government to prevent and respond to any potential threats,” the statement added.
The Commissioner urged the public to remain calm but vigilant, and to promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest security post.
He further disclosed that Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has been in constant communication with security agencies to strengthen surveillance, especially in border communities, to ensure Ondo remains one of the safest states in the country.
“Once again, we appeal to residents to remain calm, go about their normal daily activities, refrain from taking laws into their hands, and cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information that may help prevent any threat,” Ajanaku said.
