The spate of collapsed structures and poor handling of road constructions/ rehabilitation across the country have been hinged on compromise and corruption by stakeholders.
Engr Gboye Adegbenro PhD FNSE, a former commissioner for works in Ondo state under the administration of Governor Olusegun Mimiko made the assertion over the weekend at Ilaramokin, Ondo state.
A seasoned and fellow of Nigerian Institute of Engineer posits that while handling any project, the moment handlers of such project (s) compromise and cave-in to corruption, probability of failure in such projects is imminent .
Adegbenro reiterates further that following the require specification and quality control of use of materials will give a better results in any project be it road or structural projects.
Adding that various cases of collapsed structures, failed portions of roads across the country can be traced and hinged to poor handling, under-utilised, corruption and compromise by the stakeholders.
Adegbenro, who has just finished his doctorate degree in project management at the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) make case for proper and strict adherence to specifications without compromise as a way out of such cases of collapsed structures and failed portions of roads across the length and breadth of the country.
He therefore tasks professionals and stakeholders to join hands at stamping-out quacks who were always out to compromise, perpetrate corrupt practices to make huge profit at the expense of quality and safety.
