CP Adebowale Lawal

A domestic quarrel between two sisters in Akure turned fatal on Saturday, September 6, 2025, when a dispute over N800 allegedly led to the death of one of them.

The Ondo state police Command confirmed the incident on Monday in a statement issued by its spokesperson, Ayanlade Olayinka Olushola, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal.

According to police investigations, the deceased, Tewogboye Omowumi, 35, was confronted by her younger sister, Iluyemi Bosede, who demanded N800 for tomatoes and pepper previously purchased.

The argument reportedly escalated when Bosede grabbed her sister’s clothes, causing Omowumi to fall.

She was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police said the suspect has been arrested and put in custody while investigations continue.

“This unfortunate outcome underscores how trivial disputes can spiral into irreversible consequences if not peacefully managed,” the Command stated.

Lawal urged residents to resolve disagreements through dialogue and avoid violence, stressing that the police will ensure justice is served in the matter.
